Afrobeats musician Burna Boy is the largest single donor to the initiative to date, having contributed N140 million to the non-governmental organization (NGO) led by contentious social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM).
VeryDarkMan made the donation public online by providing proof of the transaction that showed the money had been credited to his NGO’s account.
He claims that the funds were transferred via Burna Boy’s company, Spaceship Collective.
Donation Surpasses Don Jazzy’s N100m Support
Burna Boy has now exceeded music executive Don Jazzy, who previously gave N100 million to the same NGO, with the N150 million donation.
Burna Boy is now the biggest individual supporter of the cause as a result of the development.
Purpose of the Funds
VeryDarkMan stated that the donation would be used to support humanitarian efforts, including paying fines for inmates unable to regain their freedom and settling medical bills for Nigerians in need.
He emphasized that the funds would be channeled strictly toward social intervention projects.
