Bolt driver laments low earnings after spending ₦80,000 on fuel

A Bolt and inDrive driver has decried the poor returns from ride-hailing work, saying that what he earned after working all night was not enough to cater for his family.

The driver, who was not identified, said he purchased fuel for ₦80,000 and worked throughout the night, but only made ₦60,000 from his trips.

According to him, after covering his expenses, he was left with nothing to take home to feed his family.

“I have four children and a wife to take care of. I pay their school fees, provide food for them, and still have to service my car,” he said.

The driver’s complaint underscores the financial strain some ride-hailing drivers experience as they struggle to cover fuel, vehicle upkeep, and family expenses.

He was reportedly protesting what he described as low fares on the platforms.
