Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed full support for the United States’ decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran, following the collapse of recent diplomatic talks.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu stated that Israel is closely aligned with Washington and remains in constant coordination over the situation.
According to him, the move by US President Donald Trump came after Iran allegedly failed to comply with agreed conditions during negotiations held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
According to Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu claimed that Tehran violated the terms required to initiate meaningful dialogue, particularly by refusing to reopen critical maritime routes.
The United States has announced that its military will begin enforcing the blockade, targeting all vessels attempting to access or depart from Iranian ports.
The operation includes control over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a major channel for global oil transportation.
The blockade is expected to affect shipping activity on both sides of the waterway.
Netanyahu revealed that US Vice President JD Vance briefed him after the talks failed.
He emphasized that the United States could not accept what he described as Iran’s “blatant violations,” including its failure to honor a proposed ceasefire and reopen the strait as previously discussed.
He further noted that a key priority for the US is ensuring that Iran eliminates its stockpile of enriched uranium and halts all future nuclear enrichment activities.
This objective, Netanyahu added, aligns closely with Israel’s own security concerns.
