Atiku Appoints Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi as Special Assistant on Northwest Coordination Ahead of 2027 Election

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has appointed Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar as his Special Assistant on Northwest Regional Coordination ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Abdul-Aziz announced the appointment in a statement shared on his X account on Friday, November 6, 2026, saying he would coordinate campaign activities across Kano, Jigawa and Kaduna states.

The appointment comes amid political uncertainty surrounding Atiku’s presidential ambition following a Federal High Court judgment that nullified the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reacting to the appointment, Abdul-Aziz expressed gratitude to the former vice-president for entrusting him with the responsibility.

He also praised Atiku’s commitment to youth participation in politics, describing his political platform as an opportunity for young Nigerians to develop and contribute to governance.

He said:

“I am deeply grateful to H.E. Atiku Abubakar for finding me worthy of this responsibility. His consistent commitment to youth inclusiveness and good governance has, for decades, provided a genuine platform for young Nigerians to grow, learn, and participate meaningfully in politics.”

In his new role, Abdul-Aziz is expected to coordinate political and campaign activities across Kano, Jigawa and Kaduna states.

The appointment signals another step in the political mobilisation surrounding Atiku’s reported preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
