A Nigerian woman has spoken out about the awful truth she learnt about her marriage, stating that she will never be able to have children.
@teeniiola published the video on X (previously Twitter), where she described her emotional trip.
She revealed that when she was 28, she discovered her husband was impotent, a secret she hid even from her mother, who died without ever learning the truth.
According to her, she was constantly pressured by her mother-in-law, who argued that there was nothing wrong with her son and blamed everything on her.
The constant judgement made her life exceedingly stressful and emotionally taxing.
She eventually confronted her mother-in-law, but rather than understanding, she claimed she had been labelled a “bad wife” by others.
The woman claimed that she is now 46 and no longer longs for children, not because she does not want them, but because her ability to choose has been taken away from her.
Reflecting on her journey, read what she said below:
“At 28, I found out that my marriage would never produce children. Whenever my mother asked why I hadn’t conceived, I would simply tell her, ‘God’s time is the best.’ I never told her the truth, that my husband was impotent. I carried that secret alone. My mother passed away without ever knowing.
“Meanwhile, my mother-in-law made my life unbearable. She insisted that nothing was wrong with her son and placed all the blame on me. One day, I finally broke down and confronted her. Instead of understanding, everyone labeled me a bad wife for speaking up.
“Now, at almost 46, I no longer ache for children, not because I didn’t want them, but because the choice, the simple right to decide whether I wanted children or not, was taken from me.”
