The father of Alex Iwobi has denied allegations that the Fulham midfielder was the victim of a break-in, calling them wholly untrue.

According to early reports, the Super Eagles player was attacked at knifepoint after Fulham defeated Burnley 3-1, and valuables were purportedly taken. These stories have since been disregarded as false information, nevertheless.

Father clarifies
Chuba Iwobi responded to a lot of rumours by saying there was no incident at his son’s house.

“Alex is fine, and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house,” he said.

In addition, he disclosed that the midfield player has already flown to Turkey to attend the Nigerian national team’s camp in preparation for future international friendlies.

Chuba also voiced his annoyance at the spread of untrue allegations, pointing out that he had received a lot of calls from worried people.

“It’s so annoying that a person can actually spread such falsehoods just for a few clicks,” he added.

The explanation is made at a time when Iwobi is having a strong season at the club level and is crucial to Fulham’s efforts to qualify for Europe.

Along with other prominent players in the game, the 29-year-old was recently acknowledged for his off-field contributions and placed on the Football Black List.

Now that the matter has been resolved, focus shifts back to his international responsibilities as Nigeria gets ready for friendly games in a mini-tournament in Turkey against Iran and Jordan.
