Aisha Yesufu Reacts to Reports That She Lost NDC FCT Senatorial Primary Election to an Elderly Woman

Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has responded to circulating reports claiming she lost the National Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial primary election in the Federal Capital Territory to an elderly female aspirant.

Her reaction was contained in a post shared on her official X account on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, shortly after the reports began trending online.

The development comes after Yesufu had earlier declared her intention to contest the FCT senatorial primary under the NDC platform, generating significant public attention ahead of the party’s internal election process.

In her response, she dismissed the reports as inaccurate, clarifying that no final result had been declared and stressing that the primaries were still ongoing, scheduled to take place between Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026.

She also called on her supporters across the Federal Capital Territory to remain committed and continue their mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level, particularly across all 62 wards.

Yesufu further encouraged her followers not to be discouraged by rumours or early claims, insisting that she remained fully prepared and confident about the outcome of the contest.

In her words:

“To my teeming supporters across the FCT do not be deterred, continue your ground work across the 62 wards. We are ready to meet them on the primaries ground”.

Her statement has since generated widespread reactions online, with supporters praising her resilience while others continued to debate the unfolding dynamics of the NDC primaries in the FCT.
