Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has called for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members stationed there to respect the law, promote peaceful cohabitation, and make constructive contributions to the country’s advancement.

The 2026 Batch “B” Stream II Orientation Course was officially opened and sweared in at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede by the governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Affairs.

Adeleke emphasised the significance of settling disputes thru legal and constitutional channels and urged the corps members to stick to the National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance given during the ceremony.

He advised them to refrain from enforcing the law on their own and to refrain from doing anything that would have a detrimental effect on younger Nigerians who look up to them.

Along with encouraging togetherness, tolerance, and respect for one another, the governor also urged the corps members to recognise ethnic, cultural, and other diversity. He gave them the assurance that his administration would continue to support the NYSC program, especially with regard to their safety and well-being.

As of midnight on Thursday, around 3,000 corps members, including some who had previously been relocated from Lagos State, have registered for the three-week orientation program, according to the NYSC Osun State Coordinator.

Noting that some of the corps members would be acting as ad hoc staff during the next Osun governorship election, he also asked them to uphold discipline and patriotism.

In order to prepare corps members for their electoral obligations and to advance a free, fair, and credible election, he continued, sensitisation had been carried out throughout all 27 local government districts.
