Monday Okpebholo has claimed that Peter Obi only won Edo State during the 2023 presidential election because of what he described as the failure of the previous administration.
Speaking during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday, Okpebholo stated that Obi would not have the capacity to win the state again in the 2027 general election.
“Peter Obi defeated (Tinubu) last time because the governor was not working. The governor then was not working,” he said.
The governor also reiterated his earlier pledge to deliver 2.5 million votes for Bola Tinubu in the next election, expressing confidence that public support for the All Progressives Congress continues to grow across the state.
Responding to concerns about the feasibility of the projection, Okpebholo insisted that the level of support currently visible among residents would ultimately be reflected in the election results.
“We were on the street. Nobody told them we were coming. People were leaving their houses. And that is the vote. That’s how the vote is going to translate,” he added.
Okpebholo maintained that with improved governance and increasing support for the APC, the party is well positioned to secure a stronger victory in Edo State come 2027.
