17-year-old girl fakes kidnap, extorts N500,000 from mother in Delta

A startling case involving a 17-year-old girl who allegedly plotted with friends to stage her own kidnapping and demand N500,000 from her mother has been reported by the Delta State Police Command.

Her hard-working mother, who makes her income from farming, was upset when the teen allegedly spent the money on clothing.

Read the statement below;

She connived with her friends, faked her own kidnap, and extorted a ransom of N500,000 to buy cloth from her innocent mother who does farming jobs in the village to feed,”

In order to stop such tragedies from happening in the community, authorities highlighted the value of a healthy upbringing and parental guidance.

Train your children, so they don’t end up becoming a problem to you and the society,” the Delta State Police Command warned.

Police advised parents to keep a tight eye on their kids’ social circles and activities, emphasising that early intervention and supervision are essential to keeping young people from acting dishonestly or criminally.

Given how readily kids can be duped into risky activities in the absence of appropriate morals and education, the case has spurred discussion on the importance of parental supervision in both rural and urban communities.
