Young African mathematician bags PhD degree at 25 years old, sets record

Young and talented African mathematician Abdulzeid Yen Anafo made history by becoming the youngest person to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana, at the age of 25.

Abdulzeid graduated with a degree in pure mathematics from the University of Development Studies (UDS), Ghana, when he was 20 years old.

Abdulzeid publishes a picture of his success on Linkedin along with a message of thanks to God and the teachers that guided his study during his academic career.

Before beginning his doctoral studies at the University of Mines and Technology, Abdulzeid earned his master’s degree from the prestigious African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).

In addition to its headquarters in South Africa, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences also maintains branches in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
