Nigerian media figure Nedu Wazobia has sparked debate after claiming that poverty makes it harder to be viewed as a role model in Nigeria.
Nedu made the comment in a recent podcast interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo.
While examining the impact of money on society, the radio host contended that many people nowadays no longer respect or look up to those who are financially struggling.
According to him, wealth today plays a significant influence in defining who society thinks successful or deserving of praise.
In a portion of the interview uploaded on his Instagram page, Nedu also claimed that many ladies in Lagos’ Lekki district are unable to afford their rent despite maintaining a certain lifestyle.

“You can’t be a role model when you don’t have money in Nigeria. Most women wey dey live for Lekki, na men dey pay their rent.”
