On Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in the early hours, a lady accused of using acid to attack a youngster is scheduled to appear in court at the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court in Stanger, KwaZulu province, South Africa.
It is alleged the 18-year-old girl identified as Londi Thabethe Purity, was sprayed in acid during an argument with the accused’s daughter.
The girl, who sustained burns to her face and upper body, is currently getting hospital treatment.
Before the woman entered the courtroom, there was raucous singing and chanting outside.
Roads near the courthouse were shut down by the local police.
Protesters, some wearing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and African National Congress (ANC) regalia, joined school pupils and community members carrying placards demanding justice for the victim.
