Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has claimed that she no longer attends real church services on Sundays, expressing discomfort with the continual media attention.
In a video posted on her Snapchat account on Sunday, the actress was seen cooking breakfast for her children and getting them ready for church when she addressed her absence from in-person services.TV & Video advertisements
“Do not ask if I am going to church. I am not going to church. Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she said.
Funke Akindele, who is known to attend the Celestial Church of Christ (CAC), stated that the constant attention from the media and congregants has made it impossible for her to worship freely and without interruption.
Her words have sparked conflicting reactions on social media.
One user wrote, “She is right abeg. Even church no get privacy again for celebrities 😩” Another added, “But still, going online church is not the same thing o. Physical fellowship matters.”
While some praised her move, others noted that public figures should be entitled to visit places of worship without being continually videotaped or photographed.
