“Valentine’s grief or excuse?” — Lady questions relationship as boyfriend mourns mum three years after her death

A woman has generated heated controversy online after questioning her relationship with her partner, accusing him of frequently citing grief as an excuse to avoid spending Valentine’s Day with her.

Read what she wrote below;

My boyfriend’s mother died on Valentine’s Day three years ago. I have not received Valentine in three years because of that,”

She added that every year, when February arrives, her lover becomes upset and distant.

She claims he switches his WhatsApp display picture to his late mother’s photo, spends days crying, and avoids Valentine’s Day festivities. According to her, the trend has been consistent for three years.

The woman stated her dissatisfaction that, although her acquaintances got presents and affection from their relationships over the Valentine’s season, she receives none.

She claimed she has tried to be patient and helpful, frequently reminding him that his mother is “in heaven” and pushing him to find happiness again, but nothing has changed.

This year again, he changed his WhatsApp DP to his mother’s picture,” she wrote, adding that she feels emotionally neglected and exhausted by the recurring situation.

She wondered if her boyfriend was truly grieving or if he was just using the anniversary of his mother’s death to avoid putting an effort in the relationship.
