As constraints continue to tighten, the US Mission in Nigeria has issued a new caution to Nigerians visiting the US, urging strict adherence to immigration laws and visa requirements.
The Mission warned that any infractions could have a detrimental effect on future travel chances and urged visitors, employees, and students to adhere to the authorised duration and terms of their stay.
“Staying compliant with U.S. immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do — it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travellers,” the Mission stated.
In an attempt to inform passengers about the significance of following US immigration regulations, the alert was posted on the Mission’s official social media page on Monday.
The Mission also advised Nigerians not to do anything that would jeopardise their immigration status and to make sure their travel documents are valid for the duration of their trip.
“Compliance with immigration rules benefits both travellers and the host country,” it added, noting that adherence helps maintain trust in the visa system and safeguards long-term travel opportunities.
In order to maintain future chances for travel, education, and employment in the United States, the US Mission urged Nigerians to make educated decisions and adhere to immigration laws.
