Trump Yet to Sign Iran Deal as Tehran Demands Release of Frozen Assets

United States (US) President Donald Trump has said he is still weighing whether to approve a proposed agreement with Iran, despite reports suggesting the deal is awaiting his final endorsement.

While Trump outlined possible terms, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities, Tehran maintained that “no final agreement has been reached yet” and insisted discussions remain unresolved.

Iran’s Fars News Agency also challenged several aspects of Trump’s claims, describing them as a “mixture of truth and lies” and rejecting suggestions that the country would destroy its enriched uranium stockpile.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stressed that Iran “said goodbye to the language of ‘must’ 47 years ago” and added that there are currently “no negotiations” on the nuclear programme.

Iranian officials further claimed that Tehran is demanding the release of $12 billion in frozen assets before moving to the next phase of talks.

The latest disagreement highlights the deep mistrust between both sides, even as global markets closely monitor developments over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
