Trump denies plan to pardon Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

Trump denies plan to pardon Sean ?Diddy? Combs

Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is presently serving a four-year federal sentence for prostitution-related offenses, has requested a pardon from US President Donald Trump, but Trump has stated that he does not plan to comply.

Trump acknowledged that Combs had written to him asking for clemency in an interview with The New York Times that was published on Thursday, January 8. However, the president stated he was not inclined to grant it. In July, Combs, 56, was found guilty on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. On more serious charges, such as racketeering and s.3x trafficking, he was found not guilty.

Trump also denied pardons for a number of other prominent individuals, such as Nicolás Maduro, the former leader of Venezuela who was apprehended by American forces over the weekend and is accused of drug trafficking. When asked about pardoning Maduro, Trump responded, “No, I don’t see that.”.

In a similar vein, the president rejected the notion of pardons for former Democratic senator Robert Menendez, serving 11 years for bribery, and disgraced cryptocurrency executive Sam Bankman-Fried, serving 25 years for financial crimes. Trump claimed he had not been questioned about a potential pardon for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty of killing George Floyd in 2020—an incident that sparked racial justice demonstrations across the country.

Since taking office again, Trump has pardoned a large number of people, including over 1,500 individuals connected to the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, as well as a number of other political allies and supporters.
