“Those who don’t to see the progress my husband is making should be given “jigi Bola” (Bola’s eyeglassess) — First Lady, Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed hope for a better Nigeria by 2031, saying she wants to leave Aso Rock and enjoy the country as an elderly woman.

She spoke on Friday, October 23, 2026, while inaugurating the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja, ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

“I want to leave Aso Rock in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that I, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.

Speaking about the country’s development, the First Lady cited changes at Nigerian airports as evidence of progress.

“I want to get to the airport and travel quickly, you know. You can see that our airports are changing, so things are
happening in Nigeria,” she stated.

She added that those who failed to recognise the progress could be given what she jokingly called “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”

“Those who don’t see, maybe we’ll give them some Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, Jigibola,” she said.

She subsequently commissioned the campaign headquarters, expressing support for her husband’s re-election bid.
