The UK claims that Ukrainian forces are under “severe duress” and are sending “elite units” to Bakhmut.

The MoD tweeted that while Kyiv is “reinforcing the area with elite troops” and demolishing crucial bridges, Russian forces are making further advancements.

Ukrainian resupply routes out of the besieged city of Bakhmut are becoming “increasingly limited” and forces are now under “severe duress”, the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.

According to the MoD’s most recent intelligence report, Kyiv is “reinforcing the area with elite troops” in order to keep control of the town in eastern Ukraine.

The MoD stated that there is “intense fighting taking place in and around the city,” placing “increasingly severe strain” on the Ukrainian defense of the Donbas town of Bakhmut.

“The Wagner Group and regular Russian Army have advanced further into the city’s northern suburbs,” which are now a Ukrainian-held salient that is open to Russian assaults from all three sides.

“Ukraine is bolstering the region with elite units, and over the past 36 hours, two crucial bridges in Bakhmut have been destroyed, including a bridge that was necessary to link the city to the city of Chasiv Yar’s last major supply route.
