According to a married Nigerian father of one living in the UK, many Nigerian men are frustrated that they do not have complete control over their wives like their fathers did. He added that many moms would have ended their marriages if they had the independence that modern women enjoy.
“Honestly the real anger amongst many Nigerian men is that they cannot do to their wives what their Dad’s did to their mothers. They saw their dads wield absolute power & respect just because they were men. That doesn’t exist anymore. These days you have to earn it,” he tweeted.
“Not all marriages were unhappy. But a lot of people’s mothers would have left their marriages if they had the freedom than women nowadays have.”
