Suspected armed robbers kill Uber driver in Abuja

In Kubwa, a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, suspected armed robbers shot and killed an Uber driver by the name of Afam (FCT).

According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the incident took place close to AJ Lounge near the NNPC junction in Kubwa.

The victim, according to the source, sold electronics during the day and drove for Uber at night.

“The man visited AJ lounge. He was in his car outside the AJ Lounge, which is where phones are sold. He then observed a group of men—up to five—trying to break into the store where phones are sold while armed with firearms and other weapons “said the source.

“I don’t really know what he was doing there, but he is into Uber. So, when he noticed the people were trying to burgle the shop, he tried to start his car to run away, then they noticed the movement.

“Possibly, they thought he was trying to video or call the police then they shot. Those clubbing in the AJ lounge heard the gunshot and came out. The criminals ran away afterwards.

“Afam was rushed to the hospital but confirmed dead on arrival. I don’t know if the matter was reported to the police,” the source added.
