Survivor rescued alive 11 days after fire outbreak, building collapse on Lagos Island

Eleven days after a building on Lagos Island collapsed due to a fire breakout, a survivor was discovered alive in an uncommon and heartbreaking incident.

The extent of the damage and fatalities caused by the catastrophe, which happened in a crowded market area at the Great Nigeria House on Lagos Island, left vendors and locals profoundly shocked.

The person was reportedly trapped under the debris and found during continuing rescue efforts, long after the likelihood of finding any survivors had started to wane.

Given the amount of time spent beneath the debris, the survivor’s survival has been called nothing short of a miracle by many.

On Christmas Eve, the building allegedly caught fire and fell, causing considerable dread and terror among locals, vendors, and onlookers.

Online comments to the rescue have been widespread. One commentator wrote, “It’s indeed God’s intervention,” while others questioned why rescue efforts were not carried out more swiftly.

In the midst of the tragedy on Lagos Island, the successful rescue has offered a rare glimmer of optimism as investigations into the cause of the fire and the ensuing building collapse continue.
