The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition brought by former minister of state for education Prof. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba that sought to invalidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s (APC) and Atiku Abubakar’s (PDP) participation in the election for president on February 25.
On the grounds of suspected corruption, Nwajiuba and a group called the Rights for All International (RAI) sued the Supreme Court to annul the primaries from which Tinubu and Abubakar emerged as their parties’ candidates.
The appeal by Nwajiuba and Rights for All International (RAI) was declared to be academic and time-barred by a five-person bench of the supreme court.
The appeal was dismissed by Judge John Okoro after the appellants’ solicitor requested its withdrawal.
