A woman has ignited an online discussion after expressing a dilemma concerning a long-time friend who had granted her sanctuary during a time of financial difficulties.
The woman said that she had lived in her friend’s home for two years, doing all cooking and cleaning duties, while her companion, who was used to paying domestic help, contributed little to household chores.
She is now financially solid and lives in a different state, but she has been assisting her friend after he lost a large sum of money in a fraudulent investment.
Despite her continuing aid, the buddy recently requested to stay in her home till she recovered financially.
However, the woman is apprehensive about the possibility of tension and resentment because her buddy is unfamiliar with doing tasks.
“I handled all the cleaning and cooking when I was staying in her house for free, without complaining, because she was my friend and I had no other place. Now, I’m worried that if I let her stay here, I’ll end up stressed in my own home.”
She asks guidance on whether she should accommodate her friend despite the probable difficulties or refuse to safeguard her peace, emphasising the delicate balance between generosity and self-care in friendships.
