A wedding day dressing room in Lagos became tense on Saturday when a bridesmaid made an unexpected remark about the bride’s appearance, causing confusion and emotional distress among those present.
The altercation, which was witnessed by the bride, her bridesmaid, and a guest, allegedly escalated after the bridesmaid commented on the bride’s back while assisting with her wedding gown.
“When it was time to zip up her dress, the bridesmaid helped her and immediately said, “Ha Why is your back so black? Don’t you wash it?” The bride instantly……became uncomfortable and started asking us to take pictures of her back so she could see it herself”
The comment prompted the bride to request urgent images for reassurance, raising worries about body image sensitivity and emotional strain throughout the pre-wedding process.
Social media users have subsequently questioned whether the statement was innocent or indicative of underlying jealously, with many urging for more supportive attitude among friends during significant life events.
The situation is similar to viral 2023 wedding stories in which brides were put under pressure by friends’ comments about their attractiveness, creating disputes over friendship support.
