Remi Surutu defends Tinubu over fuel price concerns

Remi Surutu, a veteran Nollywood actress, has offered her thoughts on ethnic unity and the growing cost of petrol, generating discussions online.

In a recent remark, the actress commended a nice and well-meaning family while criticising Yoruba people’s lack of unity.

She argued that internal criticism and discord can obscure collaborative development.

Surutu also weighed in on the recent discussion over fuel price increases, defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aka Asiwaju.

She claimed that global factors and world leaders’ decisions have an important influence in deciding petroleum costs, rather than blaming the Nigerian government.

“They are extremely very good people. They are good people. The wife, the husband, the children, they are good people. But the fact that we Yorubas, we don’t love ourselves, we condemn ourselves in as much as is allowed. But if we can for one day relax and just think around, look at what is happening all over the world. We are still enjoying ourselves. Like I fought with somebody who was saying…Asiwaju is not responsible for the rise in petrol prices. The price of the fuel is decided by some beings, by the world leaders…” she said.
