The Electoral Act 2026 (Amendment) has been signed into law by President Tinubu.
Principal officers of the National Assembly attended the signing, which was held on Wednesday, February 18, at approximately 5 p.m. at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The law was approved by the National Assembly on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The new law permits results to be transmitted electronically, but it also stipulates that in the event of a polling station network breakdown, election results may be manually tabulated.
