Phyna Responds to Backlash over BBL Surgery After Sister’s Death

According to Vanguard Newspaper, Brother Naija Season 7 winner Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has reacted to criticism surrounding her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery months after the death of her sister.

In a recent Instagram livestream, the reality TV star addressed public reactions to her Brazilian Butt Lift and 360 liposuction, describing parts of the backlash as unfair and hypocritical.

Phyna had earlier shared a post-surgery video online with the caption: “Finally did it. No regrets,” which sparked mixed reactions across social media.

Responding to critics who linked her decision to insensitivity over her sister’s passing, she said her grieving process is personal and not something she chooses to display publicly.

She added that while she continues to feel the loss deeply, she does not express grief online and prefers to keep such matters private.

Phyna also cautioned commentators against involving her late sister in online discussions, stressing that her family’s way of mourning should be respected.

Her sister, Ruth Otabor, died on August 31, 2025, following injuries sustained in a road accident involving a truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

The reality star also dismissed online allegations, including claims that she received ₦1 billion from the Dangote Group in connection with her sister’s death, describing the rumours as false.

Despite the criticism, Phyna maintained that she remains focused on her personal choices and future plans following the procedure.
