“Nigerians are united abroad but turn to something else at home” – Obasanjo

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has shared one of his thoughts regarding Nigerians who reside both domestically and overseas.

Obasanjo said that while Nigerians in the diaspora are always unified, they gravitate towards other things in their native countries. He was speaking at a reception in the unified States of America.

Speaking at an evening reception in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA on behalf of a delegation of distinguished academics and traditional leaders, including the Olowu of the Owu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, the former President praised the spirit of unity displayed by Nigerians in the region.

In the statement released by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi on Thursday, May 25, Obasanjo urged Nigerians to continue being good citizens of wherever they are domiciled.

He said; 

“Nigerian nationals are often very united when they are abroad but something else when they return to the country, therefore, I want to urge all to be good citizens, not only where you are, but when also you come home to Nigeria.”
