Nigerian woman in China breaks down in tears after being asked to vacate apartment for accommodating undocumented immigrant

A Nigerian woman residing in China has tearfully narrated how she was evicted from her apartment after unknowingly sheltering an undocumented immigrant for a few hours.

According to her, the incident occurred after her birthday celebration with friends. One of the guests later called, saying he could not reach his roommate and needed a place to stay for the night.

She agreed to let him in, but a few hours later, police officers showed up at her apartment.

The woman said the man immediately told her not to open the door, revealing that the police were after him. The officers eventually entered and arrested him.

She claimed the man had overstayed his visa and was on the authorities’ wanted list, adding that surveillance cameras helped the police track him to her apartment.

Although she insisted she was unaware of his immigration status, she said she was ordered to leave the apartment and pay a fine.

She also alleged that the apartment was sealed, making it impossible for the landlord to rent it out to someone else.

The woman lamented losing her two-month security deposit despite having recently paid her rent, noting that she was thankful the incident did not affect her own visa.

Sharing her ordeal, she advised others living abroad to be cautious about who they accommodate, saying she spoke out to stop others from making the same mistake.
