Nigerian man alleges Mauritius authorities of denying him and other Nigerians visa on arrival

A Nigerian tourist, Slaifo Michael Jubril, has accu$ed immigration authorities in Mauritius of profiling after he was reportedly denied entry despite having valid travel reservations.

Jubril recounted his experience at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, where he and several other Nigerian passengers were allegedly turned back by immigration officials.

According to documents he shared, authorities rejected his visa-on-arrival application on the grounds that he was considered a “non-bonafide visitor.”

The traveler said the decision came as a surprise because Mauritius is listed among destinations offering Visa on Arrival (VoA) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) access to Nigerian passport holders.

Jubril maintained that he complied with all required procedures, including presenting proof of a fully paid hotel reservation and pre-booked tour activities. He further alleged that the denial of entry appeared to be based solely on the travelers’ Nigerian passports, sparking renewed debate online about the treatment of Nigerians abroad.
