A Nigerian actress, Helena Nelson Ikoi, has expressed concern over what she described as the growing use of hard d√ugs among young Nigerians, claiming it is changing how many people socialize.
Sharing her thoughts on social media after a night out with friends, Helena alleged that many young people no longer enjoy ordinary hangouts because they have become accustomed to using hard d√ugs, making regular outings seem uninteresting.
She wrote:
“A lot of your friends do not enjoy regular hangouts anymore, not because of stress or the state of the country; but because they’re doing hard drvgs and regular fun is now boring. It’s really getting out of hand the way night spaces are been overrun with drvgs.
“I have turned down a lot of people offering to buy me expensive ‘white powder’ and when I ask them to send me the money instead to invest in my business, I meet a cold shoulder.
“People will willingly spend millions for you to join them on crack, coke and ice but giving you the same millions to better your life and business is where they draw the line.
“Which is why I’m alway advising people (young women) to be more self aware. Peer pressure will only bring you harm in most cases. Learn to say NO.”
Her comments have sparked conversations online about substance abuse, peer pressure, and the importance of making healthy choices, especially among young people.
