“Na song I sing I no kill person” – Singer, Obidiz reacts to Mercy Chinwo’s N2bn lawsuit threat

Obidiz responded via his Twitter account and refuted claims that the gospel singer was mentioned in the song. He claimed that the song was about a woman he met.

Gospel artist Mercy Chinwo threatened to sue Nigerian singer Obi Lawson, also known as Obidiz, for exploiting her name in a secular song, and he has now replied.

Recall that Mercy Chinwo had sent Obidiz, via her attorney, a “stop and desist” letter demanding that he remove his song, “Mercy Chinwo,” from all online music services.

The aforementioned song, “Mercy Chinwo,” which portrays the tale of a rebellious church girl, was published in 2023.

“She dey share me the cake, but she no want commit. Mercy Chinwo for church, but for club na Cardi B sef”, the lyrics read in part.

Obidiz must also remove the music and publicly and formally apologize to Mercy Chinwo.

She threatened legal action, including asking the court to punish him with N2 billion in damages for using her name indecently, if he didn’t comply with her instructions.

“That you immediately CEASE AND DESIST from any further use of the name and image of Our Client in promotion of your music.

4.2 That you take down or cause to be taken down, the song titled “Mercy Chinwo” which you published on be taken down immediately from all music digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Sound Cloud and any other platform whereby you made such publication.” The letter read in part.

“Na song I sing I no kill person. Mercy Chinwo for church, but in the club she’s Cardi B set’ you want to crucify me, I only Talks about a lady that I met, na she I sing about.” He wrote.
