Social media influencer Blessing Okoro, often referred to as Blessing CEO, has been granted N20 million in bail by the Lagos State Special Offences Court. Okoro is on trial for allegedly defrauding N69 million.
After considering the defendant’s bail request, the sitting judge, Rahman Oshodi, made the decision on Thursday.
In June, Okoro was accused of stealing and collecting money under false pretences by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). On both counts, she entered a not guilty plea.
The prosecution insisted that the influencer be detained in EFCC prison while they awaited trial.
Oshodi emphasised that the court must independently assess the gravity of the accusations and the legal repercussions before granting bail. The judge ordered two responsible sureties to post N20 million in bail.
A three-year bank statement or evidence of a fixed deposit of at least N20 million must be provided by each surety. The Lagos State Judiciary’s bail information management system must be used to verify Okoro and her sureties, the court further directed.
The court requested the defendant’s foreign passport earlier in the proceedings. Her defence lawyer, however, provided a copy of a public notice stating that the document had been lost as well as an affidavit of loss.
Additionally, Oshodi directed that Okoro’s travel restrictions be communicated to the Nigerian Immigration Service until the matter is settled.
The trial will now take place on October 12, 2026. In front of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Blessing Okoro is also charged with two counts of stealing N36 million and collecting money under false pretences.
