A Nigerian woman has described how, despite apparently supporting him for years, her aunt allegedly exposed one of her cousins after he criticised her in the family’s WhatsApp group.
The narrative, which was posted on X, described how what started out as a kind Christmas present eventually developed into a financial dispute inside the family.
The woman claims that her aunt decided to present each adult in the household ₦100,000 after returning from the UK over the Christmas season last December.
She claimed that one of her cousins thanked the aunt, took the money, and departed without any problems.
But two days later, the woman claimed, the same cousin came back to beg the aunt for a another ₦800,000 to launch a business.
The cousin reportedly criticised the aunt’s decision on the family’s WhatsApp group after she turned down the request.

“My aunt returned from the UK for Christmas last December and gave every adult in the family #100k each.
“One cousin collected his money, thanked her and left.
“Two days later, he returned to ask for 800k to start a business.
“My aunt refused.
“That night, he posted in the family WhatsApp group: ‘Some people travel abroad and forget where they came from.’
“My aunt replied with screenshots showing she had been paying his children’s school fees and rent for three years.
“His replied… ‘was I supposed to be rolling on the floor for that?’”
