A Nigerian man identified as @Edoziedey4you on X (formerly Twitter) has shared how his neighbour ended up hiring his ex-girlfriend to prepare meals for him, sparking reactions online.
According to the man, his neighbour contacted his former girlfriend to cook for him. During their conversation, the neighbour reportedly assumed that she would prepare the meals for free because she used to cook for him when they were dating.
However, the woman insisted that she be paid for her services. The neighbour subsequently transferred money to her to purchase the ingredients needed for the cooking.
Ex-Girlfriend Gets Annoyed
After preparing the food, the woman reportedly served the neighbour his portion and also dished out some food for herself, ate it and packed another portion into a takeaway container, apparently following a routine from their former relationship.
However, the neighbour reportedly objected and asked her to leave the takeaway behind, reminding her that he had hired her to cook for him.
The remark reportedly angered the woman, who then revealed that she had ended their relationship because of his alleged stinginess.
Story Sparks Reactions
The post has generated reactions from social media users, with many sharing different views about whether the woman was entitled to take some of the food home after being paid to prepare it.
Oreofe wrote:
“She was right to charge. He was also right to stop the takeaway. The problem started when she wanted both.”
Arete commented:
“This is entitlement on the lady’s part. If she’s getting paid for her work, she shouldn’t take extra food home or even eat from the cooked food unless the guy gives it to her.”
Adeyemi wrote:
“She treated the job like a business, but she still treated the food like they were dating.”
Whyw, who said they had experience in the food business, added:
“I remember then I was still in food business. We do not take anything away from the food because it’s not ours since we are just cooks, except the client insists.”
The incident has sparked a wider conversation online about the boundaries between personal relationships and professional services, particularly when former partners become involved in business arrangements.
