Lady shares experience after losing friend’s makeup kit before wedding

Sugar_Pops_, a social media user, shared a dramatic pre-wedding experience with a close friend and a misplaced makeup kit.

With only a month until her wedding, she was unable to afford the high fees charged by professional makeup artists upon learning of the booking. She then asked a friend who was a makeup artist to handle both her traditional and white wedding looks.

The friend agreed, but noted that her kit was incomplete. As part of the agreement, the bride-to-be offered to buy more makeup items as compensation. They reportedly spent around ₦40,000 on products before testing at another friend’s studio.

However, trouble began when she accidentally left the makeup box inside a tricycle (keke) on her way home. Despite frantic efforts, including retracing her steps and making announcements at a radio station, the box was not found.

Her friend later compiled an inventory of the missing items, totaling about ₦600,000, which her parents paid to cover the loss. Out of curiosity, she revisited the same store to verify the prices and discovered the items reportedly cost less than ₦300,000.

Although she still allowed the friend to handle her wedding makeup, she revealed that she eventually cut ties with her.

“A MONTH TO MY WEDDING, I didn’t have money to patronize a makeup artist because once they hear it’s for a wedding, they start calling 150k, 200k… haba 🤦🏾‍♀️. So I approached this my babe that does makeup real good and beg her to do my wedding and trad makeup. She agreed but she didn’t have all her stuff complete so I said I’ll buy stuff for her as compensation.

We did the shopping together, spent about 40k in total to get products, then we went to another friend’s studio to do a test run. On our way back to her house, she said she was going to her guy’s place first so we’ll meet at home. She left her makeup box with me to take home.

Fam, I FORGOT the makeup box inside the keke while alighting. It was too late when I remembered. I was like somebody that wanted to run mad. I chattered another keke and went from stop to stop hoping to find the keke, went to the radio station to make an announcement, nothing I did not do, but all to no avail.

My friend was stunned but she didn’t shout. I eventually called my parents and they said she should make an inventory so we can refund her. She went back to the shop and made a list with the prices, everything was about 600k. My parents paid that money just so I’ll stop crying.

Out of curiosity, I took the list she sent me and went to the same shop just to cross check the prices, everything totaled to less than 300k. 🫠

I still let her do the trad and wedding makeup, but I cut her off after then and till date she still doesn’t know why.”
