Pastor Paul Ephraim has observed that people approach him differently depending on the amount of money they intend to give, with varying attitudes toward small and large donations.
Attention for small donations
In a statement, Pastor Ephraim explained how some donors become overly insistent when donating small amounts.
“Just because say you wan give Pastor N200k, you’re calling, ‘Hello, man of God, please, are you in the office? Please wait for me… wetin man go do na, I dey office,’” he said.
The pastor emphasized that such attention is unnecessary, pointing out that donors’ sense of urgency is often out of proportion to the amount they give.
Larger donations, less fuss
He contrasted this with previous experiences with larger contributions, in which donors were less communicative.
“Your friend go transfer 3 million, they no go even call me. After some time, they will just say, ‘Sorry sir, just to confirm, did you get the… oh was it you, I was trying to look for… The Lord bless you… The Lord bless you, Amen daddy,’ that’s all,” Pastor Ephraim said.
He stressed that these larger donations often come with less insistence or immediate attention.
Lessons in generosity and respect
Pastor Ephraim concluded by reflecting on the behaviour of donors. “But you N200k, you say make I no go anywhere, make I wait for you, just before God don bless you,” he said, highlighting how the focus on small amounts can sometimes overshadow the spirit of giving.
He encouraged donors to approach generosity with patience and respect, irrespective of the amount.
