“If you are my boyfriend…” — Lady says she won’t cook or clean when she visits his house

A woman has generated internet debate after announcing that she will not cook, wash clothes, or clean when she visits her boyfriend’s house.

The woman, whose identity was not revealed, made the remarks while discussing the type of arrangement she prefers in a partnership.

According to her, visiting a partner should not imply taking on domestic obligations, especially if she does not live in his home.

The lady said, “If you are my boyfriend and I come to your place I’m not going to do anything. I’m not going to wash cloth, I’m not going to cook, I’m not going to clean. I will not do anything.”

She went on to say that due of her temperament, her lover would want a large house.

The lady added, “You must have like two to three bedroom flat because I have short temper so a room is not even possible.”

Her remarks have highlighted the disparities in expectations around household chores in contemporary partnerships, particularly when partners spend time together at each other’s residences.

When visiting a partner, cooking or helping with household chores may be seen by some as a natural sign of affection. Others think that rather than being presumed, such obligations ought to be discussed and decided upon.

As a result, the woman’s comments have sparked a new discussion on expectations in love relationships, gender roles, and boundaries.

Some would see her stance as establishing boundaries, but others might see it as a refusal to participate in a shared home atmosphere.

The conversation demonstrates how, even in relatively commonplace circumstances like going to each other’s houses, couples can have very different expectations about what partners should do for one another.
