“I Sincerely Apologize For Speaking Bad Against You, I am Truly Sorry Sir” – Rochas to Peter Obi

Nigerian politician Uche Rochas, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly apologized to Peter Gregory Obi, the former Anambra State governor and Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Rochas shared his apology in a message on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, January 1, 2025, in response to recent criticisms directed at Obi by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. Keyamo had accused Obi of misleading his supporters by joining a political party closely linked to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, claiming Obi had agreed to run for vice president instead of pursuing the presidency.

In contrast to the ongoing debate, Rochas commended Obi’s political announcement in Enugu, viewing it as a significant step that could influence Nigeria’s political future for years. He expressed confidence in Obi’s potential and offered prayers for his success.

Alongside this, Rochas admitted to having made inappropriate comments about Obi in the past and sincerely apologized for them, acknowledging his errors.

This statement has garnered a considerable response on social media, with many users engaging with both the apology and the political context surrounding Obi’s recent decisions.
