According to a video on Fox news, on Monday June 15, 2026, United States President Donald Trump disclosed that American forces carried out two consecutive nights of military strikes against Iran before a peace agreement was reached, adding that a third night of attacks had been under serious consideration before diplomacy prevailed at the G7 Summit in Versailles, France.
The revelation came during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, where both leaders acknowledged the significance of the agreement and its potential to reshape stability across the Middle East.
In his words, President Trump said, “I felt badly that we had to go back on the attack for two nights and I thought a third, but we made it before that happened,” he said.
Trump framed the military action as a necessary step that ultimately created the conditions for a diplomatic resolution.
He noted that Iran’s current leadership, which he described as smart and strong, was the group that eventually agreed to terms, distinguishing them from two earlier sets of Iranian leaders with whom no deal could be reached.
The President confirmed that the agreement had already been signed and that its effects were being felt immediately.
He pointed to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as an early sign of progress, saying ships were already beginning to move through the waterway and that full clearance was expected by Friday following the removal of remaining mines.
Trump also noted the broader economic impact, citing falling oil prices and a sharp rise in stock markets as direct results of the deal.
He expressed confidence that the agreement would hold, while leaving open the possibility of returning to a position of conflict if Iran failed to meet its obligations under the terms.
Macron praised the agreement as a major step toward peace in Lebanon and for global economic recovery.
