“I don’t believe in buying expensive clothes” — Davido’s sister Sharon

Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian singer Davido, has revealed that she has stopped working directly with Nigerian fashion designers, citing the exorbitant cost of their clothes.

Sharon, who turns 40 next year, said she no longer sees the sense in spending heavily on fashion, questioning if pricey clothing items are truly worth it.

“I don’t really believe in buying expensive clothes personally. I believe there are some things that are worth it,” she said.

“When I hear that a wedding dress costs $10,000—or even a wedding guest dress—I wonder if it’s really worth it.”

Reflecting on her wedding, Sharon revealed that her husband paid $2,000 for her wedding gown, while she personally handled the cost of her bridesmaids’ dresses and other related expenses.

“I remember that for my wedding, my husband paid $2,000 for my dress, while I paid for all my bridesmaids’ dresses and everything else,” she said.

Sharon explained that she had 13 bridesmaids and also covered the outfits for four or five hostesses.

“I had 13 bridesmaids, and I also paid for the hostesses’ dresses, which added another four or five people. Altogether, I spent less than $10,000 on the entire thing,” she added.

The businesswoman said the experience further strengthened her resolve to be more cautious about her spending on clothing.

Sharon also disclosed that she had made a firm decision ahead of her 40th birthday to stop patronizing Nigerian designers directly.

“I’m turning 40 next year, and I’ve made an executive decision. Unfortunately, I’m sorry to say this, but I will no longer be working directly with Nigerian designers,” she stated.
