A man has shared a spectacular account on X (previously Twitter) about how he recovered a portion of the money allegedly stolen from his Point of Sale (POS) firm.
In the viral article, the man detailed how a customer defrauded his POS salesgirl out of ₦100,000 by faking a bank transfer that never happened.
He stated that the event occurred when a customer attempted to withdraw ₦100,000 from their POS stand.
The individual claimed to have already transferred the funds and began shouting that his account had been debited.
Despite not receiving a transaction alert, the salesgirl gave over ₦100,000 cash under pressure.
Before departing, the consumer gave his phone number and account number.
However, the account number turned out to be partial, with only nine digits rather than the typical ten.
The salesgirl didn’t detect the error at the time. Later, when they attempted to trace the account, they discovered that only the last digit was missing.
The expected amount of ₦100,000 was not displayed in the business account. When the salesgirl phoned the man, he allegedly laughed and blocked her number.
The salesgirl’s monthly income was only ₦15,000, and losing ₦100,000 would have been financially catastrophic, according to the POS operator.
He further stated that he opted not to press her to reimburse the money and instead absorbed the loss.
About a year later, the guy stated that fate brought the same customer back to his shop.
A woman deposited ₦80,000 into an account at the POS booth, as reported in the post.
When the operator reviewed the account information, he was surprised to see the name Otokiti Odunayo Babatunde, which he said belonged to the same man who had previously deceived them.
Sensing an opportunity, he told his salesgirl to inform the woman that there was a network difficulty and that the transaction will be handled later.
The woman returned about an hour later, reporting that the ₦80,000 had not been credited to her account.
The POS operator then asked her to contact the account’s owner.
When the call connected, the man stated that he snatched the phone and faced the accused fraudster straight.
“Odunayo, this is the POS shop you stole ₦100,000 from,” he told him. According to the post, the male suddenly fell silent and disconnected the connection.
The POS operator reported recovering ₦80,000 of the original ₦100,000 loss.
He described the circumstance as “sweet revenge,” implying that the man needed the ₦80,000 more than the money he took.
