“He left after she called herself a homeowner” – Woman shares story of marriage that allegedly crumbled after housewarming

A woman has narrated the story of a couple whose 17-year marriage allegedly fell apart shortly after they held a housewarming ceremony for a home the wife purchased on her own.

In a viral video shared on TikTok, she explained that the couple lived in a two-bedroom apartment in the United States for about 10 years despite having three children.

According to her, the wife had repeatedly begged her husband to either buy a house or rent a bigger apartment, but he allegedly refused, insisting it would be a waste of money because she might divorce him and claim the property.

In her words, she said:

“The wife started saving up and eventually bought a house. When she was about to sign everything, she told her husband, ‘Come and let me add your name.’ But the husband said, ‘Never. Don’t put my name in anything. I’m not paying any mortgage with you. I’m not involved in any house.’”

She further claimed that after the family moved into the new house, they organised a housewarming ceremony.

According to the narrator, trouble began when the husband invited his wife to address the guests after giving his own speech. While thanking everyone for attending, the wife reportedly thanked God for making her a homeowner.

“After the party, the husband said she embarrassed him before everyone. He moved out and later said he would only return if she transferred ownership of the house to his name while she continued paying the mortgage,” she added.

The narrator said the wife suggested they purchase another house together instead, but the husband allegedly rejected the idea and has remained away from the family home.

The story has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users debating issues surrounding marriage, finances and property ownership.
