The governor of Rivers State and the leader of the five aggrieved governors G- 5, Nyesom Wike has spoken out on the endorsement of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’ s presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Sa’ ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto has denied endorsing Peter Obi for the upcoming February 25 presidential election.
In a statement published on Friday, Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike spoke out on his endorsement for Peter Obi, the nominee of the Labour Party (LP).
Obi is presidential material, according to Wike, but that does not imply he supports the Liberia Party’ s nominee for president.
The governor asked whether telling Obi that he is a candidate for president constitutes an endorsement when speaking with BBC Pidgin.
There are speculations that the former governor of Anambra State would support Obi surfaced when Wike hosted him in 2022. Despite being a PDP member, Wike has not yet endorsed the party’ s nominee for president.
The PDP leadership has angered Wike and the G- 5 governors, who are refusing to support Atiku Abubakar as the party’ s presidential candidate.
