A lady has described how her friend’s financial arrangement with her husband turned into a point of contention when he opted to retain a portion of his income after receiving a pay rise.
The woman claimed that her friend’s husband had always given her his whole monthly wage since he thot a woman should be in charge of running the household.
She claimed that her friend used the funds to cover their children’s costs, buy food, pay rent, and even give her husband pocket money when he needed it.
According to reports, the man’s circumstances improved after he was promoted and paid more.
The woman claimed that because he intended to purchase a car, the husband informed his wife that he wanted to start setting aside a portion of his earnings.
His wife, who had become accustomed to handling his full earnings, apparently did not approve of his decision.
She told him, “But you gave me your salary before. Why are you suddenly changing the arrangement?”
The man reportedly responded, “Because giving you my entire salary was my choice, not my obligation.”
The woman felt that her husband was altering the arrangement after she had constructed her financial duties around it, and the quarrel reportedly turned into a serious argument.
However, it was said that her husband thot his wife had grown too entitled to his money.
The woman who told the tale claimed that after a while, she posed a question to her companion that caused her to reflect.
She asked, “If he had never given you his salary from the beginning, would you still expect him to?”
She claimed that her friend became silent, leaving her uncertain about who was correct in the argument.
The narrative has spurred a broader discussion regarding marital financial arrangements, namely whether a spouse’s voluntary financial support can gradually turn into an expected duty.
