According to reports, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) would launch an immediate probe into the Thursday morning collision in Lagos between a passenger train and a bus carrying some civil officials to their workplaces.

Senator Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, who made the announcement, said the NSIB would investigate the accident’s immediate and long-term causes and suggest strategies for avoiding such in the future.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. James Odaudu, Sirika asked for the public’s assistance as the NSIB team’s probe got under way.

The Minister also commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State, especially those who have lost their loved ones, and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident.
