For the first time, Afrobeats singer Davido has spoken out about the untimely death of his 3-year-old son Ifeanyi.
In an interview with CNN, the musician who just put out a new album claims that losing his son had some influence on the work.
“We had completed the record before my kid passed away. But given the awful nature of the circumstance, I had to take a deep breath and try to remain calm, he said.
The 30-year-old artist attributes his comeback to the unwavering support he received from his family, friends, and followers.
“Nobody would want that,” Davido said, referring to the death of his son. “And everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that.”
“At some point I couldn’t open my Instagram for weeks. One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio and do what I love.” He told CNN.
