A man has voiced anger with the ongoing rise in the prices of cooking gas and food products, claiming that the situation has become unbearable for ordinary individuals trying to survive the present economic downturn.
The man expressed his concerns in a popular video circulating on social media, complaining about how prices supposedly fluctuate within hours.
According to him, he had previously checked the price of cooking gas only to return later and learn that it had jumped again.
His statements have since resonated with many Nigerians who are suffering similar issues as the country’s inflation and living expenditures rise.
Speaking in Pidgin English, the obviously irritated man questioned why prices for critical necessities continue to climb practically daily, despite citizen protests.
“No be yesterday I go market go complain of foodstuff? Na every minute things dey increase. Last three hours gas was N1450 per kg. I wan buy now dem say they just call them now say gas don increase to N1550. By tomorrow e fit don enter N1600.”
The man also criticized calls for citizens to remain silent despite the rising cost of living, insisting that many families are struggling to cope with basic needs.
“And they say make we no shout, make we no talk,” he added.
The video has triggered reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences about the increasing prices of cooking gas, transportation, and food items.
A similar outrage erupted in 2024, when citizens protested recurrent increases in fuel and household goods costs following economic reforms.
